  • To make these easy monster rice krispie treats, start by preparing a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Next, melt your candy melts according to the package’s directions.
  • Before beginning to dip your treats, you’ll want to make sure that the chocolate drips easily off a spoon. If it is still too thick, you can add some oil 1 teaspoon at a time until it’s thin enough.
  • When the candy melts are melted and smooth, dip the end of your stick into the candy melts about 1 inch up the stick.
  • Poke the stick into the krispy treat, trying to keep it as centered as possible.
  • Place the treat on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining treats and let them set for 5-7 minutes.
  • Dip one side of the Krispie treat into the melted chocolate and place it dry-side-down on the baking sheet.
  • Immediately add candy eyes onto the wet chocolate and sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.
  • Repeat until all the monster rice krispie treats are decorated.
  • Let the treats sit on the tray for 10 minutes or until completely set and serve or store!

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you are doing multiple colors of monsters, you may want to do one color at a time. The chocolate hardens really fast and you don’t want to have to keep melting it and risk it burning. I like to fully dip and prepare one color before moving on to the next to avoid this issue and also to keep my counter a little less crazy while dipping!
  • I find that it’s a lot easier to dip the front of these treats if I use a shallow container. So after I melt my chocolate and dip the sticks, I move the chocolate into a 9×9 pan or even a food storage container. That way I can angle the treat into the chocolate with ease and not hit the stick on anything.
  • If you find that your chocolate is taking a long time to set, it may just be because your home is a little warm! Try placing the tray in the fridge for a few minutes and the treats should set up perfectly.

Storage

Store your Halloween monster rice krispie treats by placing them in an air-tight bag in a cool dry place. I like to store these separately so they don’t scuff each other up and stay lovely looking, but they will stay just as fresh if you store them together.

The great thing is that these will stay fresh for up to about 2 weeks so you can keep them around for quite a while!
